Implementing Common Core Standards Workshop

  • 05 Dec 2013

  • Rutgers University School of Communication & Information

Rutgers SC&I presents a workshop to demonstrate how school and public librarians can help students, parents, teachers and administrators meet the challenge of Common Core Standards. Attendees will learn how to build links across all professions in this practical and professional development workshop for school and public librarians.

The Common Core standards require us to think and work in new ways. Facing vast shifts in expectations for student reading, school and public librarians are taking new roles. What does each have to offer the other? What kinds of creative partnerships can we build, calling on the strengths of each professional? Ideas outlined in the School Library Journal article, "A School and Public Librarian Find Common Ground on the Common Core," will be explored. The workshop will include hands-on practical suggestions for both kinds of librarians (and any teacher or parent colleagues)

Presenter: Marc Aronson

Cost: $62
