New Jersey Association of School Librarians

NJASL is the only statewide organization for school librarians in New Jersey. We advocate for high standards for librarianship and library media programs in the public, private and parochial schools in New Jersey to inspire excellence in school librarianship and learning. Our 800+ members live and work from Cape May to Sussex and points in between.

2018 Board of Education Resolution: April is School Library Month!

NJLA is supporting library legislation that would require school librarians in every school.  The new bill number for the legislative session 2018 is A1995.  Their supporting information references bill, A4500 (the bill number from the previous legislative session).  The information remains current.



Congratulations are in order on the success of the NJ Library Construction Bond Act that was approved on November 7th and will provide $125 million for a variety of construction, renovation and improvement projects designed to equip public libraries to serve their 21st century customers. Professional Development

NJASL offers professional development programs for school library media specialists through conferences, workshops, mentoring, online and print publications and resources. Be inspired and learn through collaboration with other school library media specialists!
