REAL Evaluation for School Librarians:   Making the New York Annual Professional Performance Review Model Work for You
Annual Professional Performance Reviews (APPR) are now a reality for teachers in many states. When this process was announced in New York, the state’s school librarians immediately advocated for an consistent evaluation instrument that accurately reflects what we really do. Join Sara, past president of AASL, to learn how NY State school librarians’ experiences can assist New Jersey school librarians to meet their own evaluation challenges.
Workshop Presentation by Marc Aronson:

Common Core and Non-Fiction in the SLMC

A professor at Rutgers University’s School of Information and Communication, Marc is an award-winning children’s and YA author, book reviewer, SLJ columnist, editor, historian, and publisher.  He brings a fresh and significant perspective to the ways in which the Common Core State Standards will affect library media specialists and their programs.

2013 Enthusiastic Reader Author Meeting and Awards Ceremony

Enthusiastic Reader Award Winners will represent all of the many students in New Jersey who value the joy and importance of reading.  Regional winners will be selected from North Jersey, Central Jersey, and South Jersey by a panel of school librarians. A total of nine students will be chosen; one elementary school student, one middle school student, and one high school student from each region. Winners, their guests, and nominating librarian will meet with Author Marc Aronson during breakfast, receive complementary lunch, and participate in Mr. Aronson’s workshop. Winners will be notified in advance.
